When you find a home to rent with Jowett you need to complete a reference form, which may ask for details of previous tenancies and personal details as a matter of routine. We will be clear about costs at all times and we will go through the details of the tenancy agreement with you, including what your obligations are and what to expect from your landlord. The majority of our rentals are managed by us, so we will be your first point of contact to ensure you are happy and settled in your home.

We are happy to help with regards to long term, short term or student rentals and in compliance with the new legislation we do not charge any tenancy fees, but at Jowett's we have always maintained that it is unfair to charge tenants extortionate fees so we have welcomed the new laws happily, with little disruption.

In the initial stages of the renting process with Jowetts, we ask for a holding deposit (if applicable) this is equal to 1 weeks rent, this deposit is returned if tenants change their mind during the credit check process and is removed from the initial rental payment if the tenancy goes ahead. Upon confirmation of the tenancy going forward we ask for the first months rental payment and a bond payment which is the amount of 1 months rent. The bond is placed in The DPS scheme where it is held until the end of the tenancy. All tenants are responsible for their own council tax, gas, water and electricity payments.
